Setting Up Comparative Pricing on Shelf Edge Labels

Introduction

When printing shelf edge labels, there is the option to display a comparative price on the label (also referred to as "price per"). This feature allows customers to see a price based on a standardised unit such as per kilogram (KG) or per litre (L). This can be used for Paint, food, drinks, etc. This article explains how to set up comparative pricing in the system.

Setting Up Base Units

Base units are used to define the measurement unit (e.g. KG, Litre) for comparative pricing. These need to be set up before they can be applied to stock items.

  1. Navigate to:
Stock โ†’ Ledger Maintenance โ†’ Categories โ†’ Stock Units

  2. Add the Code and Description for the base unit.

  3. Close the window to save your changes.

Assigning Base Units to a Stock Item

Once the base unit has been created, it can be assigned to a stock item.

  1. Go to Stock Item Maintenance and search for the relevant stock code.

  2. Select the Supply tab.

  3. Set the Base Unit to the one required.

  4. Use the Comparative Multipler field to define the conversion calculation.

Example:

  • Product: Jam (375g jar)

  • Comparative price required: per KG

  • Conversion: 1000g รท 375g = 2.66666 (there are 1000 grams in a KG, so we divide the 1000 by 375 to get the correct comparative)

  • Rounded to 4 decimal places: 2.667

  • Enter 2.667 into the Comparative Multipler field.
