In this brief article, I will be covering how we typically recommend you connect your Agility Assistant to a mobile printer.
In this example, we will be using a Zebra ZQ620, we highly recommend this printer, as this is what we have tested thoroughly with and can verify it works as intended. Though, a lot of Zebra printers are standardised and might be compatible
Firstly, we must grant authentication to the mobile device on the Zebra printer. This is required as Zebra only accepts files and commands from an authenticated device. To do this, turn the printer on. Go into your Bluetooth settings on the Android device (this can be done through the search function on the settings menu) and ensure Bluetooth is turned on to begin searching for devices to pair with.
Pressing the name of the printer you set will bring a prompt on both the Android device and the printer, Press accept on the Printer first, and then the Android Device second. This is crucial as the printer needs to accept the pairing, or "bonding" before the Android Device does.
After that we can go into our Agility Assistant labels app and proceed to the printing screen as normal. To find the MAC Address, this is the address of the printer, we want to hit on the magnifying glass to the left of the search bar to bring a list of bluetooth devices
After hitting that, a permission prompt will appear, press Allow. Next, locate the name of the printer in the list and press it, this will bring the address back like the screen above. After that, hit Connect. The app will establish a connection to the printer and test if it's currently available.
After that, the Label template drop down list will appear. After that, you can print freely.
We hope this brief guide was some help to you, there are many models of Zebra printers, so as we acquire and test with more we will actively update this article in the event of any differences between models.
PLEASE NOTE : We require this connection to be re-established after each full restart of the app, this is just to ensure the printer is still available. We retain the address so you can simply press 'Connect to Printer' again, however this is just a safety precaution.
